Why Did Facebook Reject Our Ad? Encouraging Christians to Vote With Their Wallets
Alright, y’all, here’s the deal. We recently tried to boost a post on Facebook encouraging Christians to support Christian-owned businesses. The message was simple: we want to empower fellow believers to vote with their wallets, not just at election time, but every time they make a purchase. By choosing to support businesses owned by those who love Jesus, we can strengthen our community and build up the Christian business owners who serve us.
But Facebook didn’t exactly like our ad. They rejected it, saying it didn’t comply with their policies around “Ads About Social Issues, Elections, or Politics.” At first, this seemed odd. We weren’t promoting any political candidates or specific social issues – just inviting people to support Christian-owned businesses.
The Power of Voting With Your Wallet
Here’s why we believe in “voting” with our wallets. When you buy from a Christian-owned business, you’re supporting someone who shares your values and beliefs. It’s like casting a vote for a society that honors faith, family, and integrity. And when thousands of people make similar choices, it can make a big impact.
Imagine the influence if Christians everywhere chose to support each other’s businesses. It’s not about avoiding non-Christian businesses; it’s about helping each other thrive in a world that doesn’t always support our values.
Why Was the Ad Rejected?
There’s a chance Facebook flagged our ad because of the promo code we used: TRUMP12. Now, to be clear, this promo code isn’t about promoting any political figure 😉 (or was it…); it’s just a fun way to give people 12 months (a whole year!) for free on our directory, followed by a small fee of just $19 a month. But with the name “Trump” in the code, it’s possible the algorithm assumed it was political.
Here’s the original ad:
Here’s the text of the post… which they did not reject… just the boost of it:
It’s frustrating when algorithms misinterpret things. We’re all for free speech and think people should be able to promote their beliefs and values without a ton of restrictions. But at the end of the day, Facebook has its policies, and we respect that – even if we don’t fully agree with how they’re applied in cases like this.
How You Can Help Support Christian-Owned Businesses
If you’re reading this, we encourage you to consider joining us in this movement to support Christian-owned businesses. You don’t need an ad to tell you that we’re all stronger when we support each other. So, check out our directory at onTeamJesus.com, find a local business that aligns with your values, and share our message with friends and family.
And hey, if you’re a Christian business owner, you’re welcome to join our directory for free using the promo code TRUMP12. Let’s continue to build a strong, faith-driven community together, and remember – we’re voting with our dollars every day.
